The Susanne Piët Consulting Agency

Susanne Piët has been the director of the Susanne Piët Consulting Agency for Communication Strategies and Training in Wapenveld since May 1988. As a communication strategist she works in a supervisory and advisory capacity. Her goal is to support companies and other organizations in optimizing the motivating and driving force of their communication efforts and draw more profit from the interdependent effects of internal and external communication. Practically speaking, Susanne Piët offers her services from the business plan/corporate philosophy stage all the way to the breefing for advertising campaigns. This uniquely broad range derices from the acquired knowledge, insights and experiences of more than twenty years' study and work.

Curriculum Vitae Susanne Piët

Susanne Piët studied Dutch literature and Journalistic Science. She graduated from Amsterdam in 1975 with a degree in social Psychology and Mass Media. She did research on the effects of information transfer throught the mass media, the new alignment after destratification in the Netherlands, the mutually influencing effects during interviews, the didactic demands of training and the dynamics of group processes. In 1986 she received her Ph.D. with a thesis on emotion and motivation research, entitled "Het loon van de Angst" ("The wages of Fear"). The study concerned what motivated people to take risks, confront danger and reset boundaris. An excerpt of it has been published in the American scientific magazine Emotion and Motivation. In the Netherlands a public edition followed in bookform.

Practical experience

Journalism
Susanne Piët worked for more than 20 years as a journalist for such publications as De Tijd, NRC-Handelsblad and Elseviers Weekblad. Her specialty was major interviews and her territory was communication. She also made various radio and TV programs on topics including current affairs, culture, music and literature. She has produced television programs for AVRO-, NOS- and VARA-television and made the TV series "Het loon van de Angst" for VPRO.

Market reseach, marketing and PR
Until 1980 Susanne Piët worked for various businesses, on the design and application of qualitative marketing research and marketing trends; she designed programs for PR activities and participated in brainstroming sessions for ad campaigns.

University research and teaching
Susanne Piët worked for 10 years (1976-1986) as an academic at the University of Amsterdam where she developed and taught courses on interview and conversational techniques, taught group dynamics and supervised students in writing their theses. She also worked for Erasmus University in Rotterdam teaching communication for the Social History department. She also still appears by invitation as a guest lecturer for various other universities.


Consulting and training work (background)
From the early 80's until 1988, Susanne Piët worke part time with SP Communication Consultants in Bussum supporting and implementing training for businesses and other organizations.


Other activities
Besides her work with the consulting agency, Susanne Piët is involved in the following:

  • director Stichting C & I (Creativity and Innovation), Amsterdam.
In 2003 Susanne received a royal decoration, she may now call herself knight in the order of Oranje Nassau.
